This tutorial shows how to create a wordpress blog.

Let’s start the current tutorial:

Wordpress is my preferred platform for blogging. And luckily hostmonster come with a free install of wordpress. In this article I am going to write about how to install wordpress on your website.

How To Make A Wordpress Blog
 
  • Log into hostmonster.
  • Enter your ‘Domain’ and ‘Password’.

  • On the screen that follows click ‘Click here’ to enter the control panel

Install Wordpress Blog

  • The next screen that follows is the Fantastico home.

  • On the Fantastico home page click ‘WordPress’.

  • On the WordPress Screen that follows click ‘New Installation’.

  • On the next screen we have to install wordpress on your site.
  • Select your website from the dropdown next to ‘Install on domain’. Please note that there will be two listings for your new website. Lets assume my main domain name is xyz.com. So I have two listings - bestandcheapwebhosting.xyz.com and bestandcheapwebhosting.com. The one that I have to select from drop down is bestandcheapwebhosting.com.
  • Install in directory: For my website bestaandcheapwebhosting.com I am going to leave this blank. Lets say you have a website which sells coffee cups and the website address for this site is www.abc.com. Now you want to install a blog for that site. So you have to enter ‘blog’ in ‘Install in directory’. You are doing this because the main site www.abc.com will continue selling coffee cups and the site address www.abc.com/blog will have your blog. If you don’t enter blog in ‘Install in directory’ then your blog will be in www.abc.com and the coffee cups site will disappear.
  • Enter username and password in the ‘Admin access data’ fields. Note this down and you will use this to access the admin area.
  • Go further down and enter a password in ‘E-mail account configuration’.
  • Click ‘Install Wordpress’

  • On the screen that follows click ‘Finish Installation’.

  • On the screen that follows I always enter my email address and click ‘Send E-mail’. I print out my email and store for my records. You don’t have to do this but I recommend you do it.
